About Us...
I began growing orchids as a young man 40 years
ago while working for a local florist in my hometown. The florist's
son had taken up the hobby and one end of the greenhouse held
many beautiful plants. I was smitten with the first sight of these
exotic blooms, having already whetted my appetite for blooming
plants earlier in my young career growing bearded iris.
From that time until now, I have never been
without some type of orchid plant at my home. Even during college,
my mother tended my small homemade greenhouse and I commuted home
each weekend to oversee their care. I am currently an accredited
judge with the American Orchid Society, active hybridizer and
registrant of these beautiful plants. I am a recent past president
of the Houston Orchid Society having served twice in that capacity
29 years apart.
I have also served as one of the first presidents
of the Montgomery County Horticultural Society, president of the
Coushatta Camellia Society, and two-term president of the Conroe
Beautification Association.
Other tropical plants have not escaped my interest.
Whether it is hibiscus, iris, daylilies or more exotics such as
ginger and heliconia - I love them all.
